Whypark tip: customize your home page and add additional content

Hi,

I am loving Whypark's service already. The pages look very appealing, and some of my sites are getting indexed already.

During the research period, I found this article http://cohn.wordpress.com/2008/02/19/whyparkcom-not/ , because I wanted opinions on both side (most other articles I found were positive.) But you gotta recognize what the limits are. It is not a full service hosting plan, nor did you write all the articles that are showing up in the sites. So if my ads are dropped, I'd just switch to another ad service. Whypark let's you do that! And if the ranking gets dropped, it's just a reminder for me to write some more unique content -- Whypark lets you do that too!

In fact, I was pondering between hosting my new DownloadGamesWii.com domain on Godaddy or Whypark. I decided I'd still put it on Whypark, so I can take advantage of the templates and the extra contents. But I wanted a significant block of customized content so I can refer reader to a specific site. If I click "custom pages," as shown on top, it would only create an additional page, with a link on the home page.

I finally figured out a way to go around it. You can click the "layout" link instead, and customize your layout. Make sure to apply only to the domain you want this custom template to be used. See my screen shot here, which shows you where you can type in your own content: it's right before the [mainbody] tag.

Domaining 101 -- Domain Parking (or not) -- Trying Out WhyPark

I mentioned in my prior post that I am working on my Internet business. I actually have been doing that for more than 10 years. Our tax firm's site FileTax.com was our primary "product." But there are more ways to generate revenue than just using We site as a marketing and communication tool.

One of the popular models to generate income, and lately it's getting sizzling hot, is by "securing" your domain names. Well, "securing" domain name means later on you'd want to develop the sites. But many "domainers" stop there. They simply make money by putting ads on their "parked" pages. Another thing domainers do is that they "flip" the domains they bought and sell them, hopefully at a higher price.

In the past few days I have gone from letting some of the domains sitting in my ISP and did nothing, to "parking" them. But today, I am moving some of them out to a site called WhyPark.com. (Disclosure, affiliate link.) So it's more than just "parking," they say. I sifted through a lot of information, and found some comments that I believe are pretty objective -- and they generally are positive ones. In short, WhyPark gives you CONTENT. It also helps you submit your pages to search engines.

It charges $99.95 for 100 sites. There's no lower entry option. I only got started (on the domain acquisition part of the business anyway), so I have less than 20 domains. But I think I will have quite a bit more in the near future.
